Now that I had the welder and workbench sorted, and had sufficiently wasted time on everything else under the sun, I proceeded repairing the disassembled carcass of a car in my garage.
The damage is extremely tragic, but again, I'm not going to get into specifics until later when I can legally include everything in one entry and be done with it. A towing company in the States is going to get the best blog review I've done to date, mark my words.
Josh and David at NSP came to the rescue again with a cut from one of their s13's, which thankfully is identical in this area to that of a RHD chassis. They even helped with the saws-all. After bringing it back to the house and test fitting, I spent the better part of a day trimming it to fit. It is an extremely iterative process.
Test fit, mark, remove, cut, repeat well into the night.
Trimming the body, the new donor panel, and grinding the edges in preparation for weld took a very long time, and I was exhausted. Some days you just have to hit the grind and do the work.
After a day's worth of labor, I think she was already looking 100 times better though. Just think of where we started at the beginning of the weekend... wait, I'll show you the horror one last time...
I mean seriously... the Jaws theme music is resonating in my head.
