ARC oil cooler, rb

jdm

oil day

Many things go into being able to work on cars at home, one of which is an oil pan.

Don't take your tools and equipment for granted, you may one day need them. I looked around and found this for about 5o quid if I recall. It was large enough to hold not only engine oil from two cars, but also radiator fluid, and transmission gear oil, again, times 2.

The pan was great after a bit of trimming and cleaning out from the raw manufacturing.

Obvious purchase CTQs in addition to it's capacity, were low profile and not open air. I'm a bit frustrated with this entry because I'm reminded of the fact this pan became one time use. I had to purchase it, and through a series of events, had to leave it behind. Someone got a good pan that day.

Pass it on.

crates

The need for special crates arose and as I work for a company that ships things often enough, I asked around and got the number for Dan The Box. Yes, that's how he was introduced to me.

I say special crates because they needed to be built to exacting dimensions, 1 cube metre inner dimensions if I recall, able to be lifted with fork truck, strong enough to stack, and made of a particular treated wood which come with an international shipping burned into every side.

Dan The Box took cash and kindly showed me how to assemble the boxes. Cheers, I had lamb.

Backing up a bit, and apparently without thinking it thought, the day I removed the bumper on the s14a I also decided to remove the FMIC because I did not feel it safe to it's wellbeing hanging out there for all to see.

All would be well if I hadn't been lazy and brought the intercooler inside to live with the front valence, but I did not. I put it into the truck of the s13 which was in the lot. This came into play when I popped open the hatch at work the following day expecting to have room for crates. That would have been bad enough, but it was also filled with two pairs of jack stands, still in their boxes.

After moving the stands, fmic, and tools to the front seat with my work bag, I removed the hatch cover, laid it down, and miraculously managed to fit most of the crate panels into the boot.

I commandeered strong rope from the shop to tie it down, which would prove handy later as well.

I had to leave the bases at the shop for another day, and ended up having to rent a van in order to gather them.

fbook

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Last-Men-Standing/802077393196225

Started a fbook page for the cars. A couple good friends are admins and may also be posting their own builds if they get out of the garage. I also thought it was a good idea since I wouldn't have to open up my personal page and could now share photos without having to do it on another group's page. It also keeps my personal page somewhat more clear of car fanaticism. Somewhat

I'm currently recovering from death so I've got nothing to do but catch up on laundry and post old motivational pictures until I can make it back outside and actually fix my 24o z after the fateful track incident which occurred longer ago now than I care to admit.

I intend to keep posting full detailed blog posts here of the re-rebuild, which will be extensive. I will probably post the teaser links of which to the fbook page, as well as selected photos from blog posts which will be grouped into themes, like suspension or engine, in a similar fashion as I did here with my simple picture thread on Hybridz <speaking of which I may also update this go-round>. I'll add quick photo comments to these and it should be easier to follow without having to know how to read. I'll post the blog post links the pictures came from in the album info if you want more details, or as always, more pictures.

cheers.

ps, thoughts on the new arrangement are appreciated.
